To date, SFES has awarded over $500,000 in grant funds to the Suffield Public Schools through traditional and mini grant awards.
Last year, SFES funded grants for bicycle safety at McAlister, head microphones and audio equipment for Suffield High as well as physical education programming and interior design and architecture software. The technology department received money for a student –led IT initiative. And the Middle School was gifted with money for a school-to-home reading program.
In other SFES news, the Board of Directors issued a new slate: Wendy Pierman Mitzel, president; Amy Egan, vice-president; Christine Mercadante, president emeritus; Chelen Kost, treasurer; Kathie Steinart, secretary.
The board of directors also welcomes new members Nora Padykula and Kristina Upton.
